The Long Island rapper recently celebrated the release of his new album, Terrence Moore, with a listening event at The Lit Factory in New York City hosted by Terrell Blair. The 15-track project is deeply personal, named after Bond’s late cousin and former manager, Terrence Moore, who died from cancer six years ago.
For Bond, this album is much more than another release. It is a way to keep his cousin’s name alive while showing exactly where he stands as an artist. During the event, he spoke openly about Terrence’s role in his life, describing him as a cousin, father figure, brother and manager who supported him until the very end.
Maxx Bond Turns Loss Into Legacy
Terrence’s influence runs throughout the project, including basketball references that nod to his years as a standout player in high school and at Prairie View A&M. That personal connection gives the album real emotional weight, but Terrence Moore is still very much about where Maxx Bond is headed next.
Producer Nam Nitty handled 14 of the album’s 15 tracks, helping shape a cohesive East Coast sound built around hard drums, smooth samples and the kind of production that feels rooted in New York rather than whatever happens to be trending online this week. Tracks like “The Arrival,” “Shorty” featuring Taj Malik and “Top Down” with Pretty P show Bond moving comfortably between sharp bars, melodic moments and records made for riding through the city.
“Last Train to LI” brings together Limelight Skins, Passport General and Splash 631, while “Brunson & Towns” features Kane, Terrence’s older brother. Named after New York Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, the track is another example of how basketball, family and Long Island culture are woven into Bond’s storytelling.
Maxx Bond also has a catalog behind him, including Foreign Summers, From Hempstead With Love and multiple Maxx Season projects, which makes this moment feel earned rather than sudden. What makes Terrence Moore stand out is the purpose behind it. At a time when so much rap feels disposable, Maxx Bond is betting on substance, family and Long Island pride.
That is a bet worth paying attention to.
